Curry - one of God's great inventions

I do love curry! Is it not surprise, considering the number on meal in the UK is curry. It used to be fish 'n' chips, but we are oh so multicultural nowadays. Tonight, I have this street food Patak's curry sauce thing, with chicken breast and red onion. It is baking in the oven as we speak. It...

    Fear of medical diagnosis

I don't like doctors nowadays. Everytime I go in, I fear something a bit more sinister than when I was younger and feeling immortal. My tendency to bury my head and avoid bad news is detrimental to my physical health. Am I alone in this?

    Comprehensive Blood Tests

There are some private services where you can pay to get blood tests. Examples: US: https://www.wellnessfx.com/ UK: https://www.medichecks.com/ I have never gotten these done before but they interest me. We only have the one vessel carrying ourselves around, so taking a preventative approach...

    Insomnia

Insomnia is the bane of many peoples existence, including mine. I wake up multiple times during the night. Probably doesn't help that the cat jumps on the bed about 4 times a night, meowing and wanting attention. Anyone hear afflicted with this most torturous of conditions?

    Are you a morning person?

I wasn't quite sure where to post this, but consider when you get up to be a mental thing. Throughout my life, I have struggled to get out of bed. Am I lazy or just have a bodyclock offset to the stars? My theory about different getting-up-times is that back in the day, someone had to stay...

    Computer gaming

I have played Rise of Patriots to death. It is a RTS (real time strategy) game. Build armies and tech. The game itself is over 15 years old and for the PC, but the gameplay is timeless. However, since I have played it for hundreds of hours, it has lost its edge on me now so only revisit...

Where did you go on your last holiday?

Mine was in Vegas 3 years ago. It was actually a working conference, where I studied the "Amazon FBA ecommerce model." In layman's terms, flogging stuff on Amazon, private labelling your own brand. It was the hottest place I've ever been to, with temperatures of 44C (110F). They had a heatwave...

    Reading books - how many?

I am curious how many books you read per year and of what type. Myself? I read a lot, but more often than not keep starting new ones without finishing the old ones! All the stuff I read is non-fiction, ranging from pop-psychology, to heavy going textbooks to business related material. One habit...

    Age of consent and religion

Where did the age of consent come from and did religion have an influence? It seems to differ across Europe, with I believe 13 being the age in Spain, if the guy is 15, something like that. What is the best age of consent? What happens if the person is biologically 15 but mentally a 20 year...

    The Universe is expanding into...

...what? What is beyond the edge of the universe? They used to say the universe was infinite in size, but it seems that they are now saying it is expanding. But if it is expanding infinitely, I presume that means it will never reach an infinite size.

Before the Big Bang, there was...

Well, what was there? If we believe in cause and effect, what was the causes? And something has just come to mind: in "what" was the singularity? Another universe? Dangling in mid-air? There must have been something for it to be in, surely?

Does Quantum Mechanics defeat Occam's Razor?

Whenever I hear someone state Occam's Razor in an argument, I am immediately skeptical. Just take Quantum Mechanics as an example. It is incredible complex and counter-intuitive. What are your thoughts? Prove me wrong, using a simple explanation as that will help prove Occam's Razor by example. :D
