    White Man's Burden

No, this is not a thread about white supremacy. In fact it is the opposite. It is the title of a film I saw some time ago that gave me an insight into racism that was not perceivable beforehand. The film has a clever angle, where White's are the underclass and Black's are the wealthy. They...

Inversion - a tool for change

Sometimes seeing a specific example can give pointers to how to use it yourself. e.g. How to be lonely: - Turn down opportunities to meet people - Favour alone activities to group activities - Don't go to religious meetings - Don't search the internet for local interest groups - Don't invite...

Is the definition of sexism sexist?

I am not making any claims over which sex is more guilty of sexism, or if indeed there is any difference. I personally think that each sex has its own guilt in this regard. e.g. men pay for meals on dates. Some argue this is "culture", yet this is still differentiating something based on gender...

    Loneliness is the new pneumonia

Bee, I was listening to something about loneliness on the radio yesterday. I think they were talking about how it has gone up significantly. I don't really understand all the contributing factors, but it does exist. I don't really have any solutions, but I do have a mental toolkit for looking at...

Inversion - a tool for change

I have started using a mind hack to assist in making personal change. It comes highly recommended as a favourite tool of Charlie Munger, Warren Buffett's business partner and fellow billionaire. Here is some brainstorming I did mid-December on an issue I was dealing with: Problem I can't get...

Is the definition of sexism sexist?

If talking about how to define something, is that not the topic of semantics? The solution would be to remove the definition that sexism mostly affects one gender, since then it doesn't incriminate itself as being a sexist definition.

    Sexism against your own gender

I consider the term feminism to be exclusionary. I prefer equality. Some may say it amounts to the same thing, but for me the emphasis is different. The term feminism is sexist, while the term equality isn't. :D

    You favourite season

For me, I like spring. There is hope that we might get a good summer, although that rarely happens in the UK. In any case, the days get longer as the sun sets later, the temperature gets warmer and anticipation is in the air! So for me, this is my best season. What is your favourite season and why?

    Loneliness is the new pneumonia

In the past, pneumonia was everywhere and a big killer too. Before antibiotics, there was little we could do to treat it effectively. It shortened lives. Yet today, loneliness is on the rise. While technology advances relentlessly forward, it has hijacked face-to-face social interaction. Yes...

    Churchill on democracy

The Rise and Fall of Apple

Apple's share price peaked a while back, making it the first ever trillion dollar company. It is surprising what slapping an Apple logo on a product does to scrambling people's minds! Yet following a profit warning, shares prices have plummeted. It is nothing to do with the Muller investigation...

Is the definition of sexism sexist?

I got this definition from the internet: The issue I have is with this part: Truncated, it says: "Sexism is discrimination based on a person's gender, especially women." Is this not a case of sexism within the definition of sexism? To suggest you cannot discriminate between the genders and...
