    Welcome to the future, today!

A Buddhist would say focus on the present moment, yet the future always holds a fascination for me. Let me list a few of the things that I find of interest. Example topics: - Breakthroughs in medicine, including cures and reversing ageing (aging if you are American!) - Artificial intelligence...

What are your plans for 2019?

I would like to chip in an alternative explanation. The common wisdom of 1lb weight loss per week is a good standard. 2lb per week is fast, perhaps starting to lose a bit of muscle at the same time. However, there is something that has been omitted from this advice. Let me explain in a wordy...

    God was made of silicon

The complexity of life is such that it is a miracle. To think of all the processes and systems working in unison to sustain life is almost incomprehensible. In fact, I suggest that it is beyond human comprehension. Yes, we have our theories of Darwinian evolution and medical science. But that...

    Wet cells versus Dry cells

Biological or silicon...is there really a difference when it comes to defining life? We seem to be defining gender by new models of thought, so why not what constitutes life? When you think about it, a living organism is really just a collection of cells, which are a pattern of atoms. Likewise...

    The Writers Thread

There seems to be a ton of writers on this forum: Me, Bee, the Doc, Uncle (only just found that out). I gave myself a capital M as everyone else had a capital. :giggle: This is surprising. Since there are so many authors here (in percentage terms!), I figure it might be useful to have a thread...

    Is being controversial a 'thing'?

I wonder if perhaps the intelligence services have information not available to the public. Perhaps they have a mole in the company and they don't want to reveal that they definitely know something is going on. Or is it a way of keeping Apple strong? Huawei has overtaken Apple and by limiting...

Cold hands: warm heart or poor circulation?

I am tall at 6'2", so I wonder if my poor little heart struggles to get blood to the extremities. Mind you, with freezing feet aged 10 in my wellies, I was short back then! Sometimes in my local coffee shop, I am wearing fingerless gloves as I type. I'm in there for a couple of hours a day and...

What are your plans for 2019?

My intentions are many, including: - six-pack challenge: can I lose about 16lbs over 90 days. - get up at 7:45am (instead of 9:30am average) - significant change to diet, lowering carb intake. Plays into the six-pack challenge - double my income: 2 x £low is not as hard as you think! - start...

Cold hands: warm heart or poor circulation?

I've always suffered from cold hands and feet. As I sit in my local coffee shop typing this, my hands are like blocks of ice! Who else is afflicted with this most terrible of afflictions?

Torn between two lovers, feeling like a fool

Bee, the dislike of Audi drivers is not so much a 'thing' as the BMW drivers. I read an article about the branding problem they have. Nowadays, just for kicks, if someone carves me up on the road, or pulls out in front, the first thing I check for is if they are a BMW driver. Thus, I feed my bias.
