What is your daily vitamin stack?

My supplements have arrived. :) I hope they work because I feel knackered!

What is your daily vitamin stack?

I've pimped my supplementation stack today. Yesterday, I ordered £107 worth of the stuff. I hope it has some noticeable effect. The difficult with anti-aging stuff is that if you don't notice an effect, it might be working! But then you are not sure if you are getting any effect at all. Alas...

"I know how to change" - this statement is false

Exactly Doc. My insight came partially from my recent dieting. Saying, "I know how to lose weight", for many people is, "just eat less!" But that is not true. Those are the technical steps. In fact, a more accurate picture is: Know the technical steps (i.e. eat less) Overcome procrastination...

"I know how to change" - this statement is false

I had an insight recently... I am sure we all say this to ourselves: "I want to achieve XYZ. I know what to do." This statement is false. Here's why. When we say we know what to do, we are essentially saying we know what technical steps are required. But that is different to knowing what to...

    Efficient Food Consumption/Preparation

If you don't like salads as a vegan, what on earth do you eat??! I like to put dried fruit in my salads. Makes them much more palatable. I've been getting into avocado too lately, but it is a big calorie hit so pruning it while I am dieting. And, an undressed salad is just plain boring. I use...

    Building bridges between polar opposites

Perhaps it was just a question of time before one of the parties brought in the NHS, as opposed to a socialist party wanting to keep its population healthy.

    Building bridges between polar opposites

Hah, my dad always says that. Get them hungry and that will get them to work!

    Input Hypothesis

I don't know enough about the input hypothesis, but I feel like I want to dispute the assumption that subconscious acquisition is better than conscious. Consider the well known 4 steps to learning: unconscious incompetence, conscious incompetence, conscious competence and unconscious...

What are you using Supermemo for?

When I am learning to code using Supermemo, if it asks a question such as "How to list contents of a directory?", I then open Notepad in Windows and type out the answer: ls (for Mac) or dir (for Windows). This gets me physically doing it and so is a procedural method.

    Spaced repetition and learning maths

You're welcome. I've heard some people say that maths is more difficult with SRS, but perhaps it is just down to knowing a good method for it.

Has divorce affected your mental health?

Was it having a suppressive effect? I remember when I was dating someone before I moved to Brighton in the UK. I felt depressed. Then, after splitting up, I was within a couple of days feeling back to normal, like a big weight was lifted from my shoulders.

The Six Pack Challenge - accountability thread

At the end of each week, I am doing an analysis of what happened the week before. It helps me iterate improvements - kind of like a feedback loop mechanism. Here is one I have just done:

    Life Hacks

There has been a ton of discussion on the Discord channel about this type of thing. There are pros and cons to each method. If you are reading a book in pdf format, you can easily copy and paste a sentence into Supermemo. It saves having to type it out. Yet reading on a screen is a bit more...

    Efficient Food Consumption/Preparation

My shake tastes quite nice. I think the biggest issue is how many strawberries you put in there. Blueberries are much smaller, so one strawb is like putting in 5 blueberries. Add according to how sweet you like your shake. I use almond milk, knowing little about soy milk. I do know almond milk...

What are you using Supermemo for?

Yeah, I've always thought the Knowledge Tree was a killer feature. I found the whole Anki structure thing a bit confusing, to be honest.

    Shut your face

Earlier this week, I was walking to my local Morrisons supermarket minding my own business. Then I looked up and saw two women frogmarching a young child along the carpark, holding his arms up and almost lifting him across the ground. They were really aggressive towards the (estimated) 5 year...

What are you using Supermemo for?

Using Anki can be good for learning stuff when you change jobs too. Crank in there the essential bits and bobs you need to know. Gets you up to speed super-quick.

    Coffee or tea?

I find espresso a bit strong. However, when I lived in Brighton, I used to crank up my espresso machine and sometimes do espresso + tiny bit of milky foam + fresh spray cream with vanilla essence. Was very indulgent but nice. This week, I just found out my local Costa coffee chain is using...

    Efficient Food Consumption/Preparation

Frozen strawberries blend well. They also act as ice cubes so they make your smoothie cold. I personally wouldn't have orange juice and frozen strawberries together. That is a huge insulin spike. These sorts of things lead to diabetes over the long term. I am a hypocrite because I used to drink...
