I think, therefore I am - true or false?

So is it the case that if you put a human through the Turing Test and they failed, they are no longer sentient? We then turn off their air supply because they are obviously a unidentified non-flying object.

    The Dark Triad personality test

Fifi, I got that too. I don't know why others keep saying I am Frequently Vile! The bit I find most interesting is the score for the 3 things they measure you for: machiavellianism, narcissism and psychopathy.

    The Dark Triad personality test

When I took the test, I was slightly higher than average for psychopathy. I save midges out of my car so I know I am not the violent type. But perhaps I have a disconnect of sorts. For the record, I do love horrors!!:ROFLMAO::unsure:

I think, therefore I am - true or false?

What about if you think but you are in fact a piece of silicon? The new Siri or Google Assistant. They think, but are they? (Bee, correct use of grammer? A slightly odd construct I admit.)

Can the power of the mind move objects?

Do you have telekinesis? Have you ever seen it in action? Or do are you a sceptic? And do you believe in ghosts?

Does large vocabulary = nuanced perspective?

Do you think that if you are a writer, you have a bias that wants to believe that you perceive more than others due to a larger vocabulary?

I think, therefore I am - true or false?

Well known saying, but is it bunkum? What do the philosophers say?

    Do pets think?

I often wonder, what does the cat sitting on the mat think, while looking all drowsy? Are they reminiscing on the mouse they ate earlier in the day, or are they wondering why their owners are staring at a nosy screen all day (or staring at a block of wood with pages)?

Does large vocabulary = nuanced perspective?

Are you saying the example is not sound?

Does large vocabulary = nuanced perspective?

So a colourblind gent with a wide colour vocabulary will have more nuanced perception of colour?

Does large vocabulary = nuanced perspective?

The Eskimos have 50 different words to describe snow. Does this mean they understand snow better than we do? Does someone with a large vocabulary see nuances that others don't, because they don't have the words to conceptualise them?

    Country philosopher

A (very) belated welcome to the board Doc. I do love your lengthy posts which bring an original perspective to all and sundry. Do you consider yourself a "country philosopher" because you have lived long enough to look back and reflect, based on considerable experience? And now that you are...

    Can you win an argument?

Let's face it, the world is full of conflict. But when we argue, do we win or do we actually lose? You can end up alienating the person you are arguing with. And as the old saying goes, "The person convinced against his will, is of the same opinion still." If you do a meta analysis, you may win...

If you would like to get some insight into your own personality and inner workings, you have got to take this test. It is excellent!
