Is mass migration a net benefit?

    [Thanks]

Oh for the love of food...

It was more being hooked into wanting to reply to the threads on this forum. And then coming up with even more ideas for thread titles. I ended up eating around 11pm. Bad habit, I know.

Is mass migration a net benefit?

We all know what is happening in the world today. If it isn't Europe being invaded [sic.] by economic migrants or the USA "welcoming" hoards of illegal Mexicans, then it is the great progress made in transport, that is leading to a transformation in the landscape of different countries around...

There is only one God. They are [enter place of birth for answer]

Yes, I agree with you Doc, on the first part. However, when you zoom out, it is less likely that the DNA of your parents were the choosers of their religion, but more likely a consequence of where they were born. It might explain the 98% Muslim vs 2% other religion discrepancy in Pakistan. Or...

    What happens when you die?

What about if you are instantly frozen and preserved, using hitherto unknown methods that work. You have zero brain activity. They frozen you before you were technically dead. Are you no longer conscious? Are you dead?

Nature versus Nurture and the wonky brain - which dominates?

When it comes to mental health, is it the life experiences we suffer or our individual genes that determine our mental health? I understand it won't be a binary either/or, but if you take a continuum, where do you think the balance lies? (Bee: quick grammar check, lays or lies?)

There is only one God. They are [enter place of birth for answer]

Why do we believe in a particular God, when it is largely influenced by where you were born? Why not choose the right God, regardless of where you live?

Define evil in the context of modern society

Forgive this rather sweeping statement, but did the concept of evil come from early religious days? If so, does the term have any meaning in a modern society where a large portion of its inhabitants are atheists or agnostic?

    Is the death penalty immoral?

Is the death penalty immoral, or is it immoral not to have the death penalty? A contentious issue this one, but it needs discussing!

    Anxiety of the unknown

You're welcome Doc. I used to love reading about Lateral Thinking as coined by Edwards de Bono.

    Is Political Correctness toxic?

I suppose it depends on whether or not you think political correctness is toxic or not.

    Is Political Correctness toxic?

Insane_AI, to be clear, I wasn't referring to your home specifically! I just bring that line out of the bag to contrast the living conditions of a black president verses an impoverished white man as a means of stress testing the concept of "white privilege". Regarding Barack Obama, I agree with...

    Is Political Correctness toxic?

Tell Barack Obama about your white privilege as he visits your white trash trailer park.

    Is Political Correctness toxic?

I think I understand what you are saying. You believe that it is ok to not want to be courteous. "Sorry Hitler, you are getting Tescos savers tea today!" Is it ok to hate someone because they have white privilege?

Oh for the love of food...

It is 10:20pm here and I still haven't had my dinner. I am typing away on this forum like a compulsive madman, contemplating what to eat. I was going to go for a takeaway curry but it is too late for that now. Seems like I will end up scrambling for something from the fridge. It's a bit sparse...

    Is Political Correctness toxic?

Let us say that this person was evil. They already tortured you the previous day. Would you want to be courteous then? Or is it like in the Art of War, keep your friends close, but your enemies closer still?!

    Is Political Correctness toxic?

I did until age 11, when I saw my dad coming in at 1am with a sack of toys. I think I was the only one left at secondary school who believed! When I sat on Santa's lumpy lap aged three, that was enough to terrify me and put me off close Santa encounters for life!

    Is Political Correctness toxic?

What if you knew that talking about a particular edgy topic would lead to the instant suicide of the listener? Instead of taking the politically correct course, you said something so offensive that it led to something akin to spontaneous human combustion. Is it not better to tow the line to...

    Is Political Correctness toxic?

There is evolutionary efficiency in believing what you hear. If someone said don't go down into the woods, there is a nasty man there, the ones who didn't would live, the ones who did...well, they may or may not live, depending on if the source was truthful or not. Net result, believing saves...

    Is Political Correctness toxic?

I just had an additional thought to add to my earlier post. Given what I have said there, could political correctness lead to your early death?
