    Longhand or electronic notes?

Interesting article here. Key points include: "When people type their notes, they have this tendency to try to take verbatim notes and write down as much of the lecture as they can," Mueller tells NPR's Rachel Martin. "The students who were taking longhand notes in our studies were forced to...

    What would you save?

I agree - but now that everything can be loaded into the cloud, is it still necessary to save photos?

Hard to carry, but sure. What colour was it?

    What would you save?

There must be at least one sentimental thing you'd want to take? A teddy bear? A photograph? A signed copy of Mein Kampf?

    Will AI kill us all?

There were three reasons I was clearing the garage: 1. I'm moving house and it needed to be done 2. I needed to get rid of all of the stuff my ex left behind 3. I was searching for a ring that my grandfather had left to me - and which I knew was in the garage Re (3) It turned out that it...

    What would you save?

Inspired by another thread, my question is, in the event of a disaster, if you could take one sentimental object (not a family member - they are all safe) with you, what would it be?

    Will AI kill us all?

That's sad, Doc. I know it's 'only stuff' but it represents things you've worked for or been given.

    Stand up desks

Yes - lots. And I've also bought some desks which can be raised/lowered. So, even for our tallest people, a combination of an adjustable desk plus a varidesk means that they can work at the right height whether they are sitting or standing.

As I said, Doc, some suprising results - and that I don't necessarily agree. I think most jobs are undergoing fundamental change. I just about remember typing pools, and I was one of the first in my company at the time to get email. We had an internal email system called Micromail, but to be...

    Will AI kill us all?

Here's an interesting article on which professions are at risk from automation. Some surprising results - not that I necessarily agree with all of the choices.

So today started with a fourth visit to the DIY store (at 07:45). This time, I bought white sealant and have now completed my endeavours in the bathroom.

    Intermittent fasting

Drink plenty of water. Often when we think we are hungry, we are actually dehydrated. I'll ask him about his IF routine. And maybe he'll even join this discussion.

    Intermittent fasting

One of my close friends fasts twice a week, rigidly. Then during the rest of the week, he's very careful about his calorie intake. Weekends are treat'n'cheat days. He trains 5 times a week - depending on whether it's a fasting day determines whether he does strength or cardio. He's been doing it...
