    White Man's Burden

You could. But that's only half the story. The fact is, that women were seen as chattels and so droit du seigneur, while it may have been on the one hand an alpha-male asserting his power over the herd, it was actually about first rights to claiming property.

    Mind, Body, and Food

Yes. I'm only posting new recipes here. And also pointing out subtly that I've managed 2 weeks out of 2 so far.

    Loneliness is the new pneumonia

I use this tool also - but I know it as reverse engineering. It's very useful and I have applied it to a degree to my own situation (getting a lodger, living with housemates). I realise that both of those activities will deal with some of the symptoms, but ultimately don't resolve my biggest...

Inversion - a tool for change

Useful. As an aside, 'inversion' was one of the ways of describing homosexual relationships in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Is the definition of sexism sexist?

I used Chamber's Dictionary for a definition. I have used a Chamber's Dictionary since I was a child. Here is their definition: "sexism noun: contempt shown for or discrimination against a particular sex, usually by men of women, based on prejudice or stereotype." ETYMOLOGY: 1960s. and this...

    Sexism against your own gender

Hell on wheels. I actually agree with you.

Is the definition of sexism sexist?

I don't understand why you are so hung up on what seems to be semantics. It primarily affects women and girls because of the whole patriarchy thing I've been bleating on about ad infinitum. I'm not going to re-rehearse those arguments here. If you feel hard done by, come up with solutions.

    Sexism against your own gender

I'll let you into a secret. It's possible for men to be feminists without betraying their own gender. Gender and the politics of the person don't have to be mutually exclusive. Try it :)

    Loneliness is the new pneumonia

I've posted before about loneliness. And I feel some shame in admitting that I am lonely. I enjoy my own company - need that solitude really to function, but Christmas for example was a bugger. It's a family time, but I don't have any family. My best friend of 20 years died (on Christmas Day...

    You favourite season

I love them all, for different reasons. I love the promise that spring brings, the indolence of summer, the colours of autumn, and the cosiness of winter. I live by the seaside and each season, each day brings a new colour palette. No two days are the same, it's like having a moving landscape...

The Six Pack Challenge - accountability thread

Well done. Accountability is a good motivator. I'm really pleased for you.

Man creates life - or is it?

No women's names mentioned in that article. Sure, they may be within the team, but the person leading appears to be male in both studies. So your statement is not sexist, but accurate.

Is Aspergers an evolutionary evolved characteristic?

I'm not arguing. It's an observation is all.

Is Aspergers an evolutionary evolved characteristic?

On a more important note, it's not always true that someone with Asperger's (and other non-neuro typical disorders) is gifted in one or more areas. For some, it's a disability - and for others the advantage they may have with say, pattern recognition or coding, doesn't make up for what they may...

Is Aspergers an evolutionary evolved characteristic?

Hmm. Either evolutionary, or evolved. Not both.
