    Spaced Repetition Software

I know that Mnemosyne uses the same SRS algo as Anki, which is SM2. This is one of the first algos used in SuperMemo. The latest version of SuperMemo uses SM18.

It is not my game, but ...

It would be interesting to see the arguments and the outcome of the lawsuit. Are you going to be hit by something big then? Not sure how big you get the storms down that way. Is it part of tornado ally?

It is not my game, but ...

My understanding is that it is illegal to have disparity on income based on the same job. But maybe that is only if you are employed as opposed to some type of contract to play in a tournament or whatever? It is all a big vague in my head. Bringing lawsuits is costly and risky, so I also...

It is not my game, but ...

I don't know any footballer who makes 100M per year. Best in the world might get say $500K pw, at a guess. China is starting to inflate prices as they are sucking in lots of talent and offering ridiculous wages. They are the anomaly. I have no idea what the women earn.

It is not my game, but ...

I think we have to be careful when we say watched just as much. Are we talking TV figures or at courts? Are we referring to in our own country or worldwide? And who sets the prize money? Where does that prize money come from? How much less are their earnings? Are there more men competing at a...

It is not my game, but ...

I have a counter to the counter. :geek: It might be different in the US, since the women are world champions and the men are so so. Consequently, that might be one reason for the higher viewing figures. Secondly, I wonder if there is a time lag between higher viewing figures and wages catching...

It is not my game, but ...

Doc, I don't follow the women's football but my dad did recently. I do watch men's football though. It sucks up so much time so try to just watch highlights where I can, unless it's an important game. There is a book called "Soccernomics", which talks about the underlying statistics of the...

The Six Pack Challenge - accountability thread

I hit a milestone today. I have now lost over 2 stone! That is over 28lbs to non-Brits. I was 14st 4lbs and have now gone down to 12st 2.9lbs. So, I make that 29.1lbs lost to date. This last bit has been slow to lose, but I got there in the end! Going for the final stage now, which is to get...

    Form vs Substance in politics

I think most people would agree that Obama was very smooth, but he did bugger all with North Korea. Do you think Obama is all form and no substance, while Trump is all substance and no form? Food for thought...

    The Alabama Ruling

If the child is unborn, why is anyone bothered with killing the "baby" if abortion laws don't really consider it a baby, but instead just a pile of cells? There is no victim.

    Mental processing speed...by age!

There were tons of youngsters in the tournament. Loads from ethnic backgrounds. A disproportionate number of Asians, be they from oriental or Indian descent. In those 6 games, I played one adult guy who looked Japanese, an Indian looking 10 year old girl and an Indian looking 10 year old.boy.

    Mental processing speed...by age!

In chess, it is well known that the youngsters are much better at calculating tactics, while the elders are better at strategy. This reminds me of the two types of intelligence (IQ): crystalised and fluid. The tactics is the fluid intelligence, where you are able to do rapid calculations better...

    Trump bashing - a near full-time hobby

I see what you did there. I know Trump has a litany of women accusing him of assault. But I would be more likely to believe them if they weren't Democrats. Anyone know if any of the accusers were Republicans?

    Trump bashing - a near full-time hobby

I was being sarcastic Doc. There seems to be lots of cases of allegations during book releases. They want to cash in by hyping something up. I just can't imagine someone trying rape in a department store!

    Trump bashing - a near full-time hobby

Trump has just been accused of rape, by author E Jean Carrol. Is this the first time or one of many? Call me a skeptic, but I do find it hard to believe. It allegedly took place in a department stores changing room. How often do you hear of a rape in a public changing room, with tons of people...

    Mental processing speed...by age!

I played in a chess tournament this weekend. My first game was against a 10 year old girl who looked like she was from Indian decent. I had to look up the spelling of her name. Due to cultural and religious differences, I was not sure if a) I was allowed to shake her hand before the game starts...

Cookie popups, privacy warnings, GDPR...all driving me nuts!

Well, let's hope that the cost of data eventually plummets to near zero. I had a warning from my mobile phone supplier that I am on 75% of my data allowance for the month already, and that if I go past 100% I get charged premium (read extortionate) rates.

Does something have to be accurate to be true?

I think considering that God created the universe, with an estimated trillion trillion trillion stars, or whatever it is, that he deserves a break, don't you? Perhaps the real meaning was that you should take a break each week. Is that the Sabbath? Interesting that Muslims take off Friday, Jews...

    Hello, World!

Welcome to the forums Izzaldin. No doubt found here via the SuperMemo Discord channel I created. This little space on the Interweb needs smart people like yourself. More cognitive power! I am interested in the future of medicine. Look forward to when they can regrow enamel, gums, and whole...
