The day today

[irony] So, my day has been full of fun...[/irony]

Three trips to the hardware store:

1. To get a Stanley knife.
2. To get a new nozzle for my silicone gun, when I cut too much off the end of the old one with my new Stanley knife.
3. To get a new tube of silicone when I realised that the old one had expired and no amount of pushing the end of the silicone gun was ever going to work.

However, the end result is Bath Sealant: 0 Bee: 1

PS: I've only buggering bought translucent silicone and not white. /sigh. So tomorrow, I will have to make a fourth trip to the hardware store to get white silicone.

This morning for me? A long walk, about 3 miles, which is my daily exercise. To be followed by helping wifey do the laundry since she is still at best semi-mobile. But tomorrow we see the surgeon. If he allows it, she gets to put her weight on her foot and actually walk for short distances.

Doc, how long does your walk take? Do you listen to music or anything when you walk?

Today, I got up at 11am and took my dad to the hospital so we could see my mum. On the way home, I had a McDonalds in the car while my dad waited impatiently. Costa for coffee and to do some Supermemo repetitions. Emails etc. Home for nap.

Now I am going through some intermittent fasting videos. I'm thinking of starting it up again.

That 3.05 mile walk is 45 minutes for the first leg, then I stop at a local public playground (most of the time) to visit their rest room and water fountain, the latter to refill my carry-along water jug. Then another 20 minutes or so for the last leg. Anywhere from 1:05 to 1:10 (hours/minutes) for a normal walk unless I stop to chat with neighbors along the way. Today, I stopped to interact with a golden Labrador puppy who was out enjoying the day. I became his best friend forever because I scratched behind his ears and rubbed his back for him. Some dogs are SO easy.

No music. Sometimes I think about my writing and run a few new scenes or modifications to extant scenes through my head to see if they make sense. I'm always tweaking and probably will never stop until I publish.

Hope your mum was OK when you visited.

That is a good daily walk there Doc. Health and fitness is so important as you get older. Also, flexibility exercises are good, in my view.

I often listen to audiobooks if I go for a walk. I feel a bit silly with a big pair of over-the-ear cans on my head when walking in the country. But it does the job.

So today started with a fourth visit to the DIY store (at 07:45). This time, I bought white sealant and have now completed my endeavours in the bathroom.

Today (10/23/18) I had to visit my orthopedic guy. I've been hobbling around for a while after taking a bad step off a curb during one of my daily walks. The good news is that X-rays say nothing is broken. The bad news is that it hurt enough for me to go to the orthopedic specialist to GET those X-ray pics. My forum time has been diminished a bit due being hobbled and unwilling to climb the stairs too often. It's a good thing that my dear Linda is getting over the worst of her foot surgery and so can climb the stairs without my help.

Doc, I think all of us have had life events recently that have cut forum time down. Sometimes things happen in chunks. I had a big chunk recently, although it has eased right now. This might change if a certain large company goes nasty on me, but for now I have some respite. In any case, I hope the x-rays come back with positive news.

Do you find you get more injuries as you get older? I am finding that. At the moment, I've got some pain down the back of my leg. Not sure what muscle that is, but as I walk on the treadmill, it makes me hobble!

Could be the calf muscle but could also be the Achilles tendon.

The X-rays were good - nothing broken. Just a deltoid strain, and the orthopedist says that is was one of the bigger tendons so is harder to tear. Diagnosis - mild sprain, treatment is limited round of steriods.

That's good news then. Takes longer for things to heal when you get older. I used to do Wing Chun kung fu up until recently. I could only go once a week because the bruises would take nearly a week to heal, unlike the youngsters.
