The Mind Tavern reaches 300 posts!

Yes, a lot of them are mine but this place is growing fast! We have a small group of members who are creating great posts. My goal is to get to 20 active members, so if you know any friends or family who are interested in the topics of The Mind Tavern, please invite them along!

You have cross-pollinated the threads. :ROFLMAO:

What's your favourite home-cooked evening meal?

Do you not add tomatoes anyway? I had a Jamie Oliver recipe I used to follow. I think there were two cans of tomatoes in the big batch I used to brew up.

And you were right. Or is that a bad case of And?

Has divorce affected your mental health?

The research shows that we reach a peak of miserableness (or is that a trough of happiness?) around the age of 45. From then on, we get progressively happier until near the end. Then I assume it goes down again.

What's your favourite home-cooked evening meal?

I love to nuke my taste buds. I think I will go hot. If I make one from scratch, I normally make it so hot no one else wants any so I eat it all.

Grammatical errors that drive you bonkers

What if you don't love any of them? :ROFLMAO: Actually, I never perceived the interpretation in your first example. But now I see it, it upsets my sense of reality. I was happy living in ignorance and I am sure my English teacher used to say no comma on the list item just before "and".

Memory Palaces - do you use them?

The method of loci is long established. I suspect the memory wizards have tried all sorts of method, but this one seems to stick. By having an image in your mind of something that you can repeatedly recall (e.g. a building you know), you have "hooks" on which to hang the material. You just have...

What books are you currently reading?

Wow, sounds like you have been through the wars there. :( Anything to do with the spine freaks me out a bit. Currently, medical science seems to struggle with regrowing nerves. I am certain in the near future they will find a way. I know someone who was in the police force and rolled the squad...

Grammatical errors that drive you bonkers

For some odd reason, I keep typing "their" instead of "there" on this forum. Never done that before! But when I read back my posts, I am finding this mistake everywhere. What common grammatical errors do you see others do that drive you nuts?

What books are you currently reading?

Insane_AI, did you get that nerve damage from your work? I know it is hard to "fix" nerve damage. My mother has neuralgia pain after a nasty bout of shingles, leaving her with a chronic condition where paracetamol has little effect. The neurologist said they can try to kill the nerve, but it...

Has divorce affected your mental health?

Lez, what was the most difficult thing from you regarding the divorce? You said it nearly broke you but what was the hardest part of it? Well done Doc on the 24 years. That is more than most. Relationships are not easy and to have stayed the course is admirable.

Cleaner URLs for The Mind Tavern web address

I have enabled cleaner looking web URLs, so they don't show things like index.php etc. Also made sure they URLs are canonical, for those who understand this stuff. This means that if you entered the address http instead of https, you get redirected to https, for your own security!

    Restructuring of the site

I've decided to move around some of the forum sections, reordering to reflect the evolving nature of this forum. In all the madness, there is some logic to my reasoning. Bear in mind that this is in a state of flux, so when you next plug-in, don't be surprised to see that things have shifted...
