    Voting is pointless

I'm going to offer my two cents' worth on the issue of the need for disruption. The Democrats (and, to an only SLIGHTLY lesser degree, the Republicans) were entrenched back-room deal-makers. There was a growing discord in the country, a sense that we needed someone to dismantle the layers of...

A new level of Hell (on Earth)

Although my current dentist doesn't do that, I recall in my youth a dentist whose viewpoint on anesthesia was Byzantine. He was probably a holdover from the Spanish Inquisition, though his name was more French than anything else. The son-of-a-serpent put in some anesthetic (none too gently)...

A new level of Hell (on Earth)

In Dante's Inferno we found multiple layers of Hell. I've found a new one hidden on Earth. In the USA, we have this "Real ID" regulation that requires states to make available a type of identification that is more thoroughly checked. While it is not a passport, there are some countries that...

    Voting is pointless

Jon, I agree, and it was one of his campaign promises - which I believe he is upholding, given the chaos that surrounds him as he dismantles stuff and the Democrats go ballistic trying to silence him or neuter him. That old Biblical-related phrase applies here: Discover "whose ox has been...

The Six Pack Challenge - accountability thread

    I would join in this thread but I don't have a six-pack. I have a keg.

    Voting is pointless

Gent, given that Trump announced that he would clean house - and it appears that to some degree he did so - I would have to say that his win was not at all scripted by the powers-that-be. It's sort of like the old joke about unemployment. To a government economist, an "acceptable level of...

    The trouble with Social Media...

As I am finding in the appropriate threads on the Access World forum.

More towards fantasy but I have dabbled in both.

As long as a dystopian future makes for good sci-fi or fantasy literature, it will never go away.

    Swimmers rage

I don't think you can attribute THAT particular failing to suffering.

    Voting is pointless

Actually, Gent, if that were true, we would be discussing president Clinton right now. She's the ultimate conspirator if you look at her history. The fact that Trump won makes it CLEAR that the Electoral College actually DOES work. Perhaps not perfectly, but it works!

    Your job is...

But if you do #2, why bother with #1, Jon? And perhaps #1 is also contrary with #3 since intelligent people with nothing to do for eternity would quickly go insane, I think. Sort of why I'm an atheist. Who WANTS to be immortal and sit before the throne of God for all of eternity? I mean...

Ah, a true statement in Buddhism.

Ted Bundy - this guy is notorious

Sadly, one of several USA serial killers. But then, the problem with sociopaths is that they can appear quite charming, disarmingly so (literally "disarming" in some cases).

    Be aware, Notion is here!

With the military, we had a dozen different methods to manage projects. None of them worked well and none of them stayed in place for very long. The problem is that "one size fits all" software ends up being "no size fits anyone."

Improve the education of all persons in all countries in a way to expose them to a secular education. Then let the religious extremists learn to live with people who can out-think them. Why? 1. Because religion and religious discord have made the world incredibly painful for many people...

    Swimmers rage

I would say that you had anger issues that kept you from clearing your head. I find light to moderate exercise is a great way to empty my head (though in your other forum there are probably those who would say my head was already empty).

    Change is a-coming

Good luck, Bee. Impressive list of work. To do what you did expresses a very strong work ethic. Yes, change will be coming. But with that kind of work ethic, I predict that the more things change, the more they will stay the same.

Global warming - true or false?

Ah, Uncle G. I think I know a thread where you did that but not on this forum. I won't ask if I'm right.

Global warming - true or false?

In Dr. Peterson's comments, he pointed out that the error bars for the projected temperature range over time grows to the point that the model becomes almost useless. That is to say, you cease to be able to make usable predictions. This is usually a sign of a bad theoretical model.
